Many thanks to @chantalcorcoran for hosting me and Many thanks to @chantalcorcoran for hosting me and my fellow writers @giulianamayo and @katyaapekina at the #CasaCorcoranWritingRetreat in Dorado Beach, Puerto Rico. It was a dreamy week of writing, talking, walking, eating, drinking, swimming, sunset chasing and golf cart cruising. We also made time to read our work for Chantal’s community, hike in the rainforest, and watch Dirty Dancing, which I somehow had never seen before (the verdict: it holds up! 💃). I feel lucky to have been gifted the time and space to allow new ideas to form and flow, and I connected with my personal work in a deeper way (thanks @carolineryderwriter for recommending me!). Giuliana and I capped off our time with a short but sweet stay in San Juan, and we flew out just a few hours before Hurricane Milton made landfall. It was my first time experiencing hurricane anxiety firsthand, and I know it was only luck that Puerto Rico was spared. My heart goes out to all who have suffered and lost in this season. 🩵🌞🌴🇵🇷

In my latest article for Red Canary Magazine @redcanarymagazine I profile art’s cosmic queen Lita Albuquerque @litaalbuquerque whose solo show Earth Skin opens tonight at Michael Kohn Gallery @kohngallery🔹This piece also coincides with the launch of the Getty’s @gettymuseum new PST ART: Art & Science Collide initiative, a theme that seems tailor-made for Lita, whose work is deeply informed by science. I’ve been an admirer of Lita since I first sat down with her ten years ago to talk about the epic installation Stellar Axis, and I grieved with her and her family when their Malibu home burned in 2018’s Woolsey Fire. This piece also celebrates that homecoming, including a new iteration of the earthwork Malibu Line, made in partnership with LAND @nomadicdivision🔹and includes beautiful photographs shot exclusively for Red Canary by @toddweaver_ 🔹Thanks as always to my editor Joe Donnelly @joedonnellywrites and the Red Canary team for believing in the story, refining it, and sharing it with the world. I’m so grateful publications like this exist 🙏♥️ Link in bio, hope you enjoy.

A belated ☀️BIRTHDAY☀️post for my sister, A belated ☀️BIRTHDAY☀️post for my sister, Jenny, of whom I have more great pictures than anyone, thanks to the incredible travels we’ve been lucky to share. Here, a few from Jaipur, Delhi, and Udaipur during this spring’s trip to India. Cheers to the year ahead and to more adventures in the future! 🩷 @jennynelsonsays
What a gorgeous afternoon commemorating Lita Albuq What a gorgeous afternoon commemorating Lita Albuquerque’s new iteration of the 1978 earthwork “Malibu Line,” a project with LAND. This marks Lita’s return, with her family, to the land that burned in 2018’s Woolsey Fire, now healing, and to their home that is nearly rebuilt. It was so special to be part of this full circle moment, set in motion by an ultramarine blue pigment line across the earth. Thank you @litaalbuquerque @nomadicdivision @lhyatt @lalaik @jessicatrentpr and everyone who shared that slice of space and time 🙏💙

Thank you for the birthday wishes from afar! Today Thank you for the birthday wishes from afar! Today we leave this land of color, beauty, history and LIFE in all its facets, feeling a little wistful but so grateful. This trip was in honor of my mother’s 80th birthday but I feel lucky I got to celebrate mine on Holika, the day before Holi, when good triumphs over evil, sins are purged and ruptures are mended through sacred fire. I couldn’t ask for a better new start—hope you’re all feeling it too. I’ll share more photos soon but for now I’ll just say thank you Mum and Jenny and thank you Mother India 🙏🌼🩷🌕

I could not be more honored that the radical, cour I could not be more honored that the radical, courageous and brilliant Judy Chicago @judy.chicago chose to share what I wrote in THE SECRET GROWING about “City of Ladies,” the show-within-a-show at her @newmuseum retrospective HERSTORY—on International Women’s Day, no less! Thank you Judy, you are a forever inspiration as an artist and such an essential part of the movement to elevate and amplify the voices and visions of women. And thank you again @lareviewofbooks for publishing this piece. Link to the full essay in my bio and Judy’s Linktree (!).
